Gulcin Gumus joined EURORDIS in June 2018 as Research and Policy Project Manager. She is responsible for supporting project management of the EU‐funded clinical research and research infrastructure projects as well as assisting the Scientific Director and the Public Affairs Team on public affairs and advocacy topics relevant to rare disease research & policy. Gulcin coordinates the EURORDIS Newborn Screening Working Group.
Before joining EURORDIS, Gulcin was involved in in several national and European non-profit organisations, coordinating projects about social entrepreneurship and education. She is also a youth facilitator in peer training addressing anti-discrimination.
Gulcin did her Bachelor studies in Molecular Biology and Genetics. She holds a PhD in Fetal and Perinatal Medicine from the University of Barcelona where she worked on research projects by developing pre-clinical therapies for rare prenatal and childhood diseases.
Gulcin speaks English, Spanish, Turkish and some Italian.
