Nominations for the EURORDIS Black Pearl Awards
2018 are officially open!
Nominate the individual or organisation that you feel deserves recognition for their tireless commitment to improving the lives of people living with a rare disease.
Make a nomination by filling out the form or by submitting a web link to a video of yourself explaining why your nominee deserves to win. Only nominations submitted in English will be considered.
This year’s categories are:

Young Patient Advocate Award – New category this year!

EURORDIS Volunteer Awards – New, not just one but two Volunteer Awards this year!

Company Awards – New, there are now two separate awards – one for a pioneering company developing treatments for rare diseases and another for a company’s collaboration with rare disease patients.

Media Awards – New, one award becomes two! There is now one award for visual and audio media and a second for written media.

Nominations are shortlisted by a selection committee and the winners selected by the EURORDIS Board of Directors.
The Awards Ceremony
The winners will be announced at the EURORDIS Black Pearl Awards Ceremony in Brussels on 20 February 2018.

The EURORDIS Photo Award
For the first time, this year’s EURORDIS Black Pearl Awards include the EURORDIS Photo Award.
Submit a photo that you have taken of your friend or family member/s that visually highlights what it means to live with a rare disease. Submissions will open on 6 December via Facebook and close at the end of January. All photos will be on show to the public in a Facebook gallery during this time.
National Geographic photographer Marcus Bleasdale will select a shortlist of photos, which will then be open to an interactive public vote held online during February. The winner will be announced live at the EURORDIS Black Pearl Awards Ceremony in Brussels on 20 February 2018.
